In Situ Medium Entropy Intermetallic Reinforced Composite Coating Fabricated by Additive Manufacturing

The possibility of stabilizing different amounts medium-entropy intermetallic compounds (MEIMCs) within a multicomponent matrix using laser cladding is demonstrated. results indicated that MEIMC with B2 structure could be successfully formed BCC during proper ratio Al, Fe, Co, Cu, Mn, and Ni powders. Two coatings contents were fabricated by changing the feeding rate powder mixture. Based on X-ray diffraction (XRD) energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analyses, Al-rich particles qualitatively identified as (Fe0.55Co0.18Cu0.22Ni0.03Mn0.02)Al MEIMC. It was also found affects content MEIMC, consequently, grain microhardness values. Finally, we propose MEIMC-reinforced alloys more effective alternative system to used for fabricating high-performance cladding.
